Benvenuto and welcome to our portfolio for the class „Learn How to Learn Languages“, taught by Harinder Khalsa at the University of Oregon! If you find yourself in the Sistine Chapel and the only words that come to your mind to describe the intense beauty of Michelanchelo’s work are „Mamma mia!“, you’ve come to the right place here. On this website, you will find helpful tips for acquiring the language of Dante Alighieri, Leonardo da Vinci, and Umberto Eco. The resources on this website are intended to provide you with strategies and helpful material to acquire the language with minimal stress. These tips and strategies are directed at students at the University of Oregon and other universities with no previous knowledge of the Italian language. It doesn’t matter why you’re taking Italian, be it whether you expect it to enhance your career opportunities, because you want to fulfil a requirement, or because you want to be able to communicate flawlessly with your secret mistress: These tips will hopefully facilitate your journey to proficiency in a language that is way more than just a key to the cradle of European culture. With this in mind: In bocca al lupo!

Michael Quattromani

Hi! I'm a Junior at the University of Oregon, and I'm studying Russian and Chinese! I've studied a variety of languages, but these are the two I'm most passionate about. I hope to earn a major in Linguistics. Plans for the future include studying and working abroad, gaining proficiency in Russian and Chinese (and hopefully Spanish), and trying tea from every country I go to. In the meantime though, I'm just working to do well in school, and working with my other passion, mental health!

I am an exchange student from Germany and I will be at UO for a year. I speak German as my mother language and I’m fluent in English. I also speak some Spanish and French, and I currently learn Italian. I would like to know as many Romance language as possible, as I love Europe and want to be able to communicate with people all over the continent.
My name is Sailor and I am a sophomore. My degree is towards journalism, however I have taken a few classes in linguistics and hope to continue studying it while finding a way to connect it with what I want to do as a writer. I am also currently studying Latin at UO, however most of my language learning was in Spanish grades 1st-12th. I would love for my knowledge of Latin to expand my comprehension of all the Romance languages!
