The Role of Accuracy in Communication

A key to success in language learning is the ability to lift pressure off of oneself to accomplish this idea of “perfect” fluency. Oftentimes, this pressure will hold learners back from taking essential risks that challenge and grow one’s ability to better speak the target language.

Unfortunately, most of the time we learn best from our mistakes, and this is often true of languages too. That being said, one doesn’t need to be afraid! Typically, those with more experience are more than happy to help you, and as we all know, grammar does not equal communication, in fact is almost completely irrelevant to it.

If you can have enough confidence to try getting your thoughts across, it’s likely the recipient of your communication will meet you halfway and enjoy the process of sharing their language.

Incontro il mio amico al bar questo pomeriggio. Lei ordina un caffè piccolo. Ci sediamo a un tavolo vicino alla finestra. La folla parla piano.

I meet my friend at the cafe this afternoon. She orders a small coffee. We sit at a table by the window. The people talk quietly.
